Ras el-Chaqaa Cape (Face of God)

Ras Nhache (Hamat), between Batroun and Chekka, Coast & Mountains·4.6(290)·Free

About

Between Batroun and Chekka, the towering white promontory of Ras el-Chaqaa, known in antiquity as Theoprosopon or the "Face of God," plunges into the sea in cliffs that force the coastal road through old rock tunnels. Short walks lead to clifftop lookouts over the Mediterranean, and the cape is a recognized refuge for coastal and migrating birds. It is one of the North's most striking and least developed viewpoints, crowned in the distance by the Saydet el Nourieh headland.
