Mseilha Fort

Hamat, Nahr el-Jawz valley (near Batroun), Batroun·4.5(900)·Free

About

Built around 1624 on the orders of Emir Fakhreddine II, Mseilha Fort rises dramatically from a narrow limestone ridge beside the Nahr el-Jawz, just northeast of Batroun. Its sandstone walls once guarded the coastal road linking Batroun to Tripoli. Today the restored fort is a favorite roadside stop for photos and a short climb up to the ramparts.
