About
Completed in 1910 by Italian architect Giuseppe Maggiore atop what is thought to be a small Crusader church, this Maronite cathedral is built entirely of golden Batroun sandstone. Its three bell towers and a nave blending Byzantine, Roman and Gothic touches make it the old town's most striking monument, a short walk from the souk and the sea. Evening light on the stone is especially memorable.
