Al-Mina Archaeological Site
About
On the tip of the old-town peninsula, this UNESCO site spreads a colonnaded street paved with geometric Roman and Byzantine mosaics down toward the sea. Highlights include a large public Roman bathhouse, a rectangular arena, the remnants of a 12th-century Crusader cathedral and rows of columns that vanish into the Mediterranean. The seafront setting makes it especially photogenic in the late-afternoon light.
