About
Designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in 1962, this 70-hectare modernist complex between Tripoli's old town and El Mina centres on a 750-metre boomerang-shaped hall amid sweeping concrete canopies and reflecting pools. Left unfinished by the civil war, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2023 and is now opening for guided visits and cultural events. Access is via the site office at the entrance; a small fee applies.
