Saydet el Hosn - Our Lady of the Fortress
About
Crowning the highest hill above Ehden, Saydet el Hosn ('Our Lady of the Fortress') stands where villagers built a fortified sanctuary as far back as the 6th century. Beside the old stone chapel, a large modern round church topped by a cone and a white statue of the Virgin was inaugurated in 1989. Its wide, easy-to-reach terrace is a favourite family and pilgrimage stop, with sweeping views over Ehden, Zgharta, Koura and the Akkar and Tripoli coast.
