About
Perched 287 meters up on Cape Theoprosopon (Ras ech-Chaqaa), Saydet el Nourieh - Our Lady of Light - is a Greek Orthodox monastery whose origins trace to a 4th-century tale of sailors saved by a mysterious light. Pilgrims climb to the cliffside cave church and the 17th-century basilica for blessings and one of the most spectacular sea panoramas on the North coast. The winding drive up is half the adventure.
