Byblos Citadel & Crusader Castle
Byblos Archaeological Site, Byblos / Jbeil·4.5(1,980)·$$$$
About
Built by the Crusaders around 1100 from limestone and reused Roman columns, the castle (Castle of Gibelet) stands at the heart of Byblos's UNESCO-listed archaeological site. From its ramparts you look over the Temple of the Obelisks, the royal necropolis of King Ahiram and the Mediterranean. A small site museum inside traces the city's story from prehistory to the medieval age.
