Beiteddine Palace
About
Built over some 30 years by Emir Bashir Shihab II in the early 19th century, Beiteddine ('House of Faith') is Lebanon's finest palace of the period, arranged around grand fountain courtyards with carved cedar woodwork and a museum of Byzantine mosaics in the former stables. Visitors tour the reception halls, the emir's private apartments and the hammams, all with sweeping valley views. In summer it doubles as the home of the Beiteddine Art Festival.
