About

Housed in the grand serail of 1897 — once Baakline's courthouse, prison and gendarmerie — this heritage building was restored in the late 1980s and reopened as a public national library. Set in the main Druze town of the Chouf, it pairs handsome Ottoman-era stonework with reading rooms and a large collection. It makes a quiet, atmospheric stop away from the usual tourist trail.
