Deir el Qamar Historic Village
About
Once the seat of Mount Lebanon's emirs, Deir el Qamar is a listed national monument of red-roofed, ochre-stone houses around the Midan square, with the Fakhreddine Mosque (1493), Emir Fakhreddine II's palace and serail, silk-khan arcades and a 17th-century synagogue. Its lanes embody Lebanon's coexistence, with a mosque, church and synagogue within a short walk. In summer it hosts the 'Estivales de Deir el Qamar' cultural season.
