Beit Chabab — Bell Foundry & Pottery Village

Beit Chabab, Matn, Coast & Mountains·4.6(210)·$$$$

About

Perched in the Metn hills 24 km from Beirut, Beit Chabab is home to the Naffah family foundry, the only workshop in Lebanon still casting bronze church bells by hand — a craft brought by Russian masters in the early 1700s. The village was also long known for its Fakhoury pottery and silk weaving, and its steep lanes are lined with old stone houses and churches. Visitors can watch bells being cast and explore a living slice of Lebanese artisanal heritage.
