About
Bkerké has been the winter seat of the Maronite Patriarchate since 1830, set on a terrace 350 m above the bay of Jounieh. Visitors come for the patriarchal church, the museum wing and archives added in the 1990s, and sweeping views over the Kesrouan coast. It remains one of Lebanon's most important spiritual and national landmarks.
