About
Clinging to the rock on the southern slope of the Qadisha Valley, Mar Lishaa (Saint Elisha) is one of the valley's oldest hermitage-monasteries, first mentioned in the 14th century and regarded as a cradle of the Lebanese Maronite Order. Its cave chapels and whitewashed cells sit above the valley floor and are reached on foot from Bcharre. A small museum and church are usually open to quiet visitors.
