Cedars of Jaj

Jaj, Byblos District, Byblos / Jbeil·4.6(150)·Free

About

High above Jaj at around 1,500 m sits one of Lebanon's oldest surviving cedar stands, some trees centuries old, declared a nature reserve in 2014. It is a last remnant of the great forest the Phoenician kings of Byblos exploited in the 3rd millennium B.C., whose timber, tradition holds, even reached Solomon's temple. A short 15-minute walk from the car park brings you into the grove; entrance is free, and the cool, fragrant air and valley views make it a serene family stop.
