About

Standing at about 1,500 m on the edge of the Qozhaya branch of the Holy Valley, the Antonine monastery of Mar Sarkis (Saints Sergius and Bacchus) rises on the ruins of a Canaanite temple, its first church dating to the 8th century. Its commanding balcony over the gorge, overlooking Ehden, Kfarsghab and Bane, earns it the name 'the Watchful Eye of Qadisha.' A short walk from Ehden's Midan square, it pairs a quiet chapel with one of the north's finest viewpoints and sunsets.
