About
Nicknamed 'the Rose of the Mountain' for its red-tiled roofs, Hasroun sits at about 1,450 m on the southern rim of the Qadisha Valley in the Bsharri highlands. Stone houses, churches and orchards of apple and cherry cluster above a dramatic drop into the gorge, with short nature trails and viewpoints on the edge of town. The poet Lamartine likened its roofs to a bouquet of roses, and it stays a cool, easy-going summer retreat.
