Yanouh Roman & Byzantine Ruins

Yanouh, Jbeil, Byblos / Jbeil·4.4(180)·Free

About

Perched around 1,120 m above the upper Nahr Ibrahim (Adonis) valley, Yanouh preserves a 2nd-century Roman temple, a 5th-century Byzantine basilica and a medieval chapel layered over more than five millennia of settlement. Excavations here uncovered the earliest known public use of Aramaic in Mount Lebanon. It is a remote, atmospheric excursion for lovers of history and mountain scenery.
