Bhamdoun Old Souk
About
Bhamdoun grew around a railway station over a century ago, its souk straddling the old Beirut–Damascus road at some 1,150 metres above the Lamartine valley. Before the war it was one of Lebanon's most beloved summer resorts, especially for Gulf visitors, and its restored streets, cafés and hotels still buzz on cool summer evenings. A wander here blends faded belle-époque nostalgia with the lively, reviving atmosphere of a mountain town finding its feet again.
