Harissa, Jounieh·4.7(3,200)·Free
About
Perched 650 m above the sea in Harissa, the white statue of the Virgin (8.5 m high, some 15 tonnes) opens her arms toward Beirut, reached by a spiral ramp with panoramic views. First erected in the early 1900s, the shrine sits beside a striking modern glass-and-concrete basilica inaugurated in 1992. A major pilgrimage site visited by popes, it is free to enter and open to visitors of all faiths.
